Nowra Athletics Club began in 1960

Nowra Athletics Club has a proud tradition of providing athletics opportunities to people of all ages and abilities across the Shoalhaven.
We are a family-friendly club that promotes participation at every stage of life — from young beginners and recreational runners, to those chasing personal fitness goals, and even athletes with elite or Olympic aspirations.
Known for our welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, Nowra Athletics Club is a place where everyone is supported and valued — whether you’re chasing a podium finish or simply enjoying the joy of staying active.
Our members also enjoy a strong sense of camaraderie and community spirit. We believe that fun and participation are just as important as performance, and we take pride in creating an environment where athletes of all levels can connect, laugh, and grow together — on and off the track/field or course.
Whatever your goal, you’ll feel right at home with us.

What we offer
The Club offers a variety of athletic programs throughout the year including Track and Field, Cross Country Running and Social Running.
Track & Field Competition
Since 1960 Nowra Athletics Club has been offering Track and Field competition for athletes of all ages – tiny tots to master’s athletes – and all abilities. It’s a perfect way to spend time with the family whilst participating in friendly athletic competition. If you enjoy jumping, throwing and running, we have it all.
Track and Field is conducted each Wednesday night, September – March at Shoalhaven High School from 6pm.
Cross Country Running
Cross Country competition is conducted during Autumn/Winter on Saturday afternoons at various venues around the Shoalhaven, catering for all ages and abilities. A variety of distances are offered – 1km, 2km, 3km, 5km, 10km.
Summer Social Walk/Run Program
Our Summer Social Walk/Runs are a great way to spend an evening enjoying a social run or walk, over approximately 6kms. Summer Social Walk/Runs are conducted on Friday evenings during Summer at various locations around the Shoalhaven.
Social Connections
Many club members meet informally for weekly runs or get together to compete at an event beyond club competition. If you are interested in joining a group run, just ask a committee member for details.

Competitive Opportunities
Nowra Athletics Club actively encourages and supports members to compete in both individual and team events beyond regular club competition. The Club is affiliated with Athletics NSW allowing athletes to represent the club in state and national competition.
Team Events
While athletics is often seen as an individual sport, there are many opportunities for athletes to come together and compete as a team — and we actively encourage it!
Nowra Athletics Club has a strong tradition of team success, particularly in cross country and track & field relay events. Our athletes have proudly represented the club at state championships, regularly earning team medals and showcasing the strength of our club spirit.
Coaching and Training
Nowra Athletics Club recognises the importance of coaching and encourages all members who wish to develop their abilities to consider making contact with a coach in the discipline of their choice. We have several coaches associated with our Club. For example; Rob McDonald is a Level 3 coach of middle and long distances. You can contact him on 0438 824 763 or at rmcd2173@bigpond.net.au for further information.
There are also many experienced athletes in our Club who are always willing to provide guidance and advice to athletes.
Please contact us to discuss your needs.
We are run by volunteers
Nowra Athletics Club is proudly run by a dedicated volunteer committee who give their time, energy, and passion to ensure the smooth operation and continued success of the club. From organising events to managing registrations and supporting our athletes, the committee plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members.
