Erin Smart and Sam Keogh returned from the Oceania Masters Athletics Championships with an impressive haul of medals, proudly showcasing their talent, dedication and the strength of the Club on the international stage.

The 2025 Oceania Masters Athletics Championships were held in Brisbane from September 6th to 10th.
In the women’s 40-44 years 100m, Erin took the silver medal in 13.08, behind New Zealand’s Helena Dinnissen who clocked 12.90 and in front of fellow Australian athlete Eliana Seymour in 13.30. Sam Keogh was 6th in this race in 14.44.
In the 200m, Erin edged out Helena Dinnissen taking the gold medal this time in 26.22 to Helena’s 26.44, both athletes well clear of 3rd place Lesley White who finished in 28.49.
Erin added another gold to her haul with a convincing 1st place in the 400m with a time of 1.00.28. Deb Garden from New Zealand was 2nd in 1.04.23 and Australian Lesley White was 3rd in 1.04.46.
As usual, Sam Keogh had a huge program of events. In the 80m hurdles Sam crossed the line in 3rd place but took the silver medal as the 2nd Oceania athlete, in 14.78 behind Eliana Seymour from Australia and Dash Newington from Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
In the 400m hurdles, Sam added another silver medal. Dash Newington crossed first in 1.12.54 then Sam was narrowly edged out by Australian Alex Cropper who crossed in 1.16.90 to Sam’s 1.16.95.
Sam added yet another piece of bling to her Oceania tally with a silver medal in the 60m with a time of 8.66 whilst in the discus, she threw 22.91m for 7th place
Sam also competed in the pentathlon which consisted of the 100m, javelin, long jump, shot put and 800m. In the 100m Sam was 2nd in 14.46. In the javelin Sam speared 22.01m whilst she threw 7.52m in shot and jumped 4.12m in long jump. In the 8oom Sam clocked 2.59.80 and overall earned herself a silver medal.
In addition, Sam was part of the 4x100m relay where the team took bronze.
