The 2025 Australian Masters Games were held in Canberra from 18 – 25 October, with Nowra’s Kerrie Jones competing in both athletics and indoor rowing; achieving outstanding results alongside her daughter Nicola.
In the women’s 70 years athletics events, Kerrie produced a series of strong performances, placing 4th in the discus (15.41m), javelin (11.38m) and hammer throw (18.54m), as well as 5th in the shot put (5.71m). Her determination paid off in the weight throw, where she secured a bronze medal with a throw of 7.95m.
Meanwhile, Nicola claimed gold in the 40 years discus with an excellent throw of 31.09m.
Over at the indoor rowing centre, Kerrie began her campaign in dominant form; rowing an impressive 777m in 4 minutes for the gold medal, with second place trailing at 666m. “My rowing felt incredible” Kerrie said after the event. She continued her success with silver medals in the 1 minute row, 1km row, 500m row and 100m sprint, the latter decided by a razor-thin margin of just one one-hundredth of a second. Kerrie said she was “pleased with the way [she] paced [herself] in this meet and got it right.”

Nicola also impressed in the rowing events, competing against an ex-Olympian and coming home with some gold medals.
Congratulations to Kerrie and Nicola on their fantastic achievements at the Games!
