Anne Boatswain is having a fantastic season, adding two more records to her name last Wednesday, 26th November. In the shot put, Anne set a new mark of 10.26m, surpassing her previous record of 9.64m set on 5th November, whilst in the triple jump, she established a new age-group record with a leap of 6.60m.
Meanwhile, on the track, Erin Smart was on fire, clocking 26.90 for a new 200m record, improving on her 27.02 set last season.
Also sprinting strongly in the 200m were Leith Babian (29.43), Sam Keogh (29.93), Lana Crawford (30.98), Evie Binney (31.14), and Ieremaia Falemoe (32.14). Andrew Heffill pushed hard with great determination to claim 2nd place in his race in 33.55, earning bragging rights over his son Will, who finished 5th in 35.39.
In the 2000m, there was a thrilling battle at the front between Leith Babian and Alex Morrison. In an exciting sprint finish, Alex edged out Leith, running 7:25.62 to 7:25.68. Third place went to Declan Bennett (8:37.01) and fourth, sporting his new spikes, was Jack Saviane (9:39.75). It was great to welcome back Erich Moeller-Duhme after his trip to New Zealand, who finished in 10.51.64.
In the 800m, Eden Quodling had a strong run to win her heat in 3:27.38, ahead of Merelei Falemoe (3:45.11) and Isla Saviane (3:47.50). The senior race was taken out by Leith Babian in 2:25.04, finishing in front of teenagers Macca Davis (2:31.37) and Lana Crawford (2:36.68). There was another great tussle in the second senior race, with Evie Binney narrowly taking the win in 2:47.07, just ahead of Thor Jackson (2:47.09) and Emerson Boatswain (2:47.20).
In D grade, six year old Leo Krizanovic had an excellent two-lap run, clocking 3:51.04, with strong performances also from Benjamin Emmerton (3:52.88) and Willy Sproule (3:53.56). Young Charlotte Morrison, aged 7, got off to a cracking start in her race and finished off well to place 9th in 51.97.
The juniors once again had plenty of fun in the long jump pit. Ieremaia Falemoe landed a great jump of 3.76m, while Kiefer Spearpoint recorded 3.53m. Also exceeding the 3-metre mark were Merelei Falemoe (3.36m), Ben Sproule (3.32m) and Declan Bennett (3.08m).
In the discus circle, our E and D grade athletes continued to impress with their commitment and enthusiasm. Xander Day’s throw edged close to the 10-metre mark with 9.94m, while Grace Parmenter reached 4.98m. Other strong E-grade performances came from Rosie Saviane (3.24m), Kayleigh Kingdom (2.50m) and Max Saviane (2.11m). In D grade, the biggest throw came from Benjamin Emmerton with a superb 14.90m, followed by Hazel Saviane (9.08m), Jaxon Keogh (8.85m), Lani Parmenter (8.80m) and Willy Sproule (7.55m).
