The Mid South Coast Zone Little Athletics Regional Track and Field Championships were held at the Kerryn McCann Athletic Centre on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th February 2026. There were medals, PBs, great determination and plenty of enthusiasm on display.
Nowra Athletics Club was represented by 12 athletes wearing the black and gold.
Flynn Kelly claimed a gold trifecta, winning the 14 years 100m, 200m and long jump. In the 100m, Flynn won his heat in 12.45 before bettering this in the final with 12.17. In the 200m, Flynn took the win in 24.55, and in the long jump he leapt an impressive 5.63m.
Isla Bailie also won gold in the 14 years 100m and 200m. In the 100m heat, Isla placed 2nd in 12.87 before improving in the final to take the win in a new PB of 12.57. In the 200m, Isla recorded another PB of 25.67 for a convincing win. Both race times were under the National qualifying times.

Amarlie Ward took the bronze medal in the 13 years 1500m in 5.23.29. Amarlie also finished 4th in the 800m (2.28.68) and 6th in the 400m (1.08.57).
Kai Thirwall won silver in the 13 years 1500m in 4.59.74 and placed 4th in the 800m in 2.30.11.
Macca Davis took three medals from three events, winning silver in the 14 years 3000m in 10.50.43 and bronze in both the 1500m (4.38.08) and 800m (2.17.14).
William Heffill put in great efforts to place 4th in the 14 years 3000m in 12.27.09 and 5th in the 400m in 1.11.02.
Lana Crawford had a strong win in the 15 years 1500m, clocking 5.08.29, well ahead of second placegetter Natalia Hall from Kembla Joggers in 5.15.45. Nowra’s Madeline Oke was next across the line in 5.20.48 to claim the bronze medal.
The 15 years 800m was a closely contested race, with three Nowra competitors finishing in the top four. It was an incredible sprint finish, with the win going to Drew Cooney from Athletics Wollongong in 2.19.86. Lana Crawford took silver in 2.22.43, narrowly pipping Airlie Stevens in 2.22.67 – a difference of just 0.24 seconds in a very tight finish. Madeline Oke finished 4th in 2.28.70.

Airlie Stevens also contested the 15 years 400m, where she placed 4th in a solid time of 1.02.76, while Madeline Oke had a great run in the 15 years 3000m, taking the win in 11.11.11.
Orlando Bailie had a good weekend, pushing hard to finish 6th in his 14 years 100m heat in 13.65, which was fast enough to qualify for the hotly contested final. In the final, Orlando was 7th in 13.67. He also placed 5th in the 200m (28.61) and 5th in the long jump (4.24m).

There were also several club members who competed at the Championships representing their Little Athletics centres. Shoalhaven Little Athletics Centre had seven athletes competing.
Finn Goddard won three gold medals, taking victories in the 12 years 1500m (4.44.09), 400m (1.01.82) and 800m (2.18.85).
Emerson Boatswain collected four medals and added a Regional record to her portfolio. Emerson won gold in the 300m hurdles in a record time of 55.71 and claimed another gold in the javelin with a throw of 24.17m. Emerson also won silver in the 1500m (5.27.60) and silver in the 3000m (12.44.40).
Riley Sandstrom had a busy weekend, contesting five events. In the 13 years discus, Riley threw 37.18m for silver and recorded 8.96m in the shot put to claim bronze. In the 100m, Riley clocked 13.49 to finish 4th and qualify for the final, where he improved his time to 13.36, again finishing 4th. In the 90m hurdles, Riley placed 4th in his heat in a qualifying time of 16.06 before bettering this to 15.66 in the final, once again finishing 4th. Riley was 10th in the long jump with a leap of 4.24m.
Atlas Bailie competed with great passion and positivity, finishing 10th in the 11 years 800m in 2.58.59 and 9th in the long jump with 3.49m.
Emily McLaren had a clean sweep in the Under 20 group, winning gold in all six of her events. Emily also set Regional records with a throw of 23.78m in the javelin and a run of 1.08.46 in the 400m. On the track, Emily won the 1500m (5.33.34), 400m hurdles (1.12.01) and 800m (2.38.16), and also claimed gold in the long jump with a leap of 4.40m.
Hamish McLaren also enjoyed a gold sweep and claimed a Regional record in the Under 20 javelin with an impressive throw of 43.62m. Hamish won the 1500m in 4.24.48, the 800m in 2.09.94 and the 3000m in 9.40.15, and also took gold in the discus with a throw of 37.18m.

Competing for St Georges Basin Little Athletics Centre were five of our members. Braxton Naylor was impressive in the 11 years discus, recording a PB of 31.37m for a silver medal, and added another silver in the javelin with 21.03m. In the shot put, Braxton claimed bronze with 8.27m, and finished 4th in the 1100m walk in 8.41.49.
Kadance Naylor also enjoyed a very successful competition, claiming the throwing gold trifecta with wins in the 17 years discus (28.55m), shot put (10.02m) and javelin (35.72m). Kadance also placed 2nd in the 100m with 14.42 and 3rd in the triple jump with a hop, step and jump of 9.06m.
Declan Bennett took the win in the 12 years 1500m race walk in 9.37.63. Declan was also 6th in the 1500m (5.22.75), 7th in the 400m (1.16.86) and 7th in the 800m (2.40.97). In the field, Declan finished 8th in discus (14.52m) and 6th in javelin (16.36m).
Jasmine Wheeler won silver in the Under 20 400m hurdles in 1.18.73 and silver in the 100m with 14.02.
Caleb Saunders collected two silver medals and two bronze medals in the Under 20 group. Caleb placed 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 5.52m and 2nd in the 100m in 11.72, where the first three across the line all bettered the previous record of 12.28. Caleb also finished 3rd in the 200m in 27.18 and 3rd in the triple jump with a leap of 10.82m.
Wearing the Kiama Little Athletics Centre uniform, Ieremaia Falemoe won gold in both the 10 years 100m and 200m. Ieremaia ran 14.24 in the 100m heat before improving to 14.15 to take the win in the final. In the 200m, Ieremaia qualified for the final with 30.48 and bettered this to 29.80 to claim gold. Ieremaia also won silver in the long jump with a leap of 3.93m.
