Warm weather and a few determined flies set the challenge for walkers and runners at The Wharf on Friday 28th November.
In the 3km event, Melissa Blaffert was our sole competitor, giving her the rare honour of claiming all three podium places. Melissa is already looking ahead to the upcoming Cross Country season and is considering stepping up to the 5km course. She continues to enjoy both the fitness benefits and the friendly, social atmosphere of our Friday night meets.
In the 5km, Alex Arnold broke through for his first win in the event, finally securing line honours after several close second placings. Alex held off a fast-finishing Scott Martin, with only three seconds separating the two at the finish. Lisa Carroll claimed third place, fresh from a holiday in New Zealand where perhaps a little altitude training gave her an advantage.
Our last Friday Night Walk, Run and Chat for the year will be at Beach Rd on Friday 12th December. It’s a picturesque trail through the National Park. As it is the last round before Christmas, walkers and runners are encouraged to wear Christmas colours and bring along something to quench the thirst and some nibbles to snack on.
After the Christmas Break, Friday Night Walk, Run and Chat will recommence 6th February 2026.
