Nowra Athletics Club follows the Athletics NSW Weather Policy to ensure the safety of all participants during inclement weather or other emergencies that may impact our ability to provide a safe competition environment.
For full details, please refer to the Extreme Weather Policy
Key points regarding extreme weather:
-
Lightning: Competition is suspended if there are 30 seconds or less between a lightning flash and the sound of thunder (the 30-30 rule). Events will only resume after 30 minutes have passed since the last lightning strike.
-
Severe Winds: In the event of strong or gusty winds, events may be modified, postponed, or cancelled if safety is at risk. This includes field events (e.g. high jump, javelin, discus) and cross country competition that runs through tree-covered areas, where falling branches may pose a danger.
The safety of all participants, officials, and spectators is our top priority.
Please note: Track and Field competition is conducted at Shoalhaven High School. If there has been consistent rain leading up to competition day, the school may decide to close the track. This decision is outside our control.
Cancellations: If we need to cancel a Club event, members will be notified via our Facebook and Instagram pages, and when possible, a notice will be added to the home page of our website.
