It was another beautiful sunny afternoon for Round 4 of cross country on Saturday 9th May, with a great turnout enjoying ideal running conditions.
In the 1km event, Grace Parmenter crossed the line first in 6:35, followed by Ayla Parmenter in 7:01 and Terry Bailey in 7:30.
The 2km race was won by Zayne Taylor in 8:53, ahead of Hamish Bennett in 9:22. Hallie Browne and Joel Browne crossed together in 9:37, while Chelsea Corbridge was next home in 10:04 and Maggie Vaughan finished in 10:41. Ari Cisneros (11:11), Lani Parmenter (11:20) and Maddi Wills (12:34) all ran well, with Sally Browne close behind in 12:39. Amelie Cisneros (17:30) and Walter Cisneros (17:31) rounded out the field.
There were 21 competitors in the 3km event, with Emerson Boatswain leading the way in 13:50. Declan Bennett (14:30), Jack Kinsele (14:35) and Zayne Taylor (14:38) all finished within seconds of each other in a tightly contested battle for the minor placings. Mila Bozikov was next home in 15:12, followed by Piper Browne in 15:23. Ivy Donougher crossed in 15:58, ahead of dad Simon Donougher in 16:05 and mum Steph Donougher in 16:18. Lhiam Crook ran strongly for 17:00, while Noah Dyball (17:26) and Ella Dyball (17:30) enjoyed the course alongside running companion Bodhi the dog. Geoff Crook finished in 17:33 before Mitch Emmerton claimed family line honours in 17:58, ahead of Alex Emmerton (18:25) and Ben Emmerton (18:39). Jacob Wilson (18:42), Peter Dooley (19:03), Bella Parmenter (22:48), Mark Parmenter (22:51) and Ellie Cooper (24:12) completed the field.
The medium course provided some exciting racing, with Hamish McLaren narrowly taking the win in 20:59 from Leith Babian in 21:01, while Scott Armstrong was close behind in 21:25. Gavin Dyball finished 4th in 24:17, followed by Ron Cozijnsen in 24:37. Evie Smart looked strong in 25:03 with Dean Bryce just behind in 25:06. Another close contest unfolded between Matt Kinsele (25:19) and Erin Smart (25:22). Glenn Sansom (25:33), Tristan Corbridge (25:41), Paige Connolly-Davies (25:54), Rebecca Kundrat (27:35), Lisa Carroll (32:14) and Eva Moeller-Duhme (45:04) all completed the course well.
Next Saturday we return to UOW for round 5 which will be followed by our AGM and Annual Presentation. The Club will provide a BBQ and drinks after the running. We ask members to bring something sweet to share for ‘dessert’. Please make sure you attend to congratulate all the award winners on their achievements.
