The 2025-26 Under 20 and Open Championships were held at the AIS Athletics Field from 24th to 26th January 2026,
Hamish McLaren had a great run in the Under 20 steeplechase event, finishing in 10.41.69 to claim the silver medal. Hamish also competed in the javelin, placing 4th with a throw of 40.73m.
Emily McLaren enjoyed a strong championships campaign, finishing 5th in the Under 20 javelin with a throw of 24.22m and also placing 5th in the 400m hurdles in 1.13.90.
Ellie Cooper also competed in the Under 20 javelin, placing 6th with a best throw of 21.79m.
Jonah Watson produced solid performances in both the Under 20 100m and 110m hurdles. Jonah clocked 11.98 in the 100m and 17.28 over the sprint hurdles.
In the Open events, Will Dyball recorded a season best and his second fastest time ever in the 800m, stopping the clock at 1.52.70. He backed this up with a personal best in the 1500m, running 3.56.72 to place 23rd overall in a strong field of 54 athletes.
Harrison Baxter had an impressive run in the Open 1500m, finishing 8th in heat two and 19th overall with a time of 3.54.50. Oliver Baxter placed 10th in heat three with 4.05.09, while Nic McGill finished 12th in 4.15.75.
Sixteen-year-old Kadance Naylor competed in the Open javelin, placing 7th with a throw of 32.83m; an outstanding result against older competition.
