The inaugural Nowra Athletics Club Pentathlon was held on Wednesday 18th February 2026, proudly sponsored by Nowra Athletes Foot.
The Pentathlon proved to be a real drawcard, with a fantastic number of members taking part. It was great to see field athletes stepping onto the track and track athletes testing themselves in the field.
Competition was fierce throughout the night, with some very close results across the grades.
In the Masters men category, Tim Musson claimed victory with 160 points after running 49.61 in the 200m and 4:07.09 in the 800m. Tim scored strongly in the field, throwing 38.52m in discus and 11.76m in shot put and jumping 3.93m in long jump. Geoff Crook and Tristan Corbridge both finished on 150 points to share second place. Tristan clocked 31.45 in the 200m and 3:04.12 in the 800m while throwing 17.50m in discus, 7.43m in shot put and producing the biggest jump of the night with 4.25m. Geoff Crook ran the 200m in 37.77 and had a great run in the 800m with 3:36.47. In the field, Geoff threw 29.02m in discus and 7.78m in shot put, and jumped a solid 3.46m.
Also contesting the five events were Masters athletes Leith Babian (120 points), Andrew Heffill (100), Scott Armstrong (90) and Mitchell Emmerton (80).
In C grade men, there were two contenders. Benjamin Sproule took the win on 220 points ahead of Declan Bennett on 210 points. Ben clocked 32.35 in the 200m and 3:04.41 in the 800m. In the field, he threw 16.70m in discus, 8.39m in shot put and jumped 2.96m in long jump. Declan ran 36.46 in the 200m and 2:49.43 in the 800m, and threw 16.11m in discus, 7.21m in shot put and jumped 3.08m
D grade men was jointly won by Benjamin Emmerton and Jaxon Keogh on 180 points. Ben ran 37.45 in the 200m and 3:30.88 in the 800m. He threw 13.23m in discus, 5.56m in shot put and jumped 2.44m. Jaxon recorded 41.98 in the 200m and 3:26.50 in the 800m. He threw 10.71m in discus, 4.06m in shot put and jumped 2.56m. Willy Sproule placed third with 160 points. Willy ran 44.28 in the 200m and 3:32.51 in the 800m, threw 11.57m in discus, 5.18m in shot put and jumped 1.99m.
In E grade men, Xander Day took the win with 160 points. Xander was 7th home in both the 200m (50.23) and 800m (3:58.68). Xander produced strong field performances of 9.89m in discus, 3.91m in shot put and 2.16m in long jump. Hamish Bennett was second on 140 points. Hamish was 8th in the junior 200m (55.44) and 8th in the 800m (3:59.23). In the field, Hamish threw well to record 9.45m in discus and 4.26m in shot put and jumped 1.73m in long jump. Leo Krizanovic finished third with 120 points. Leo recorded strong runs of 45.22 in 200m and 3:55.24 in 800m. Leo was also consistent in the field with throws of 7.99m in discus and 3.30m in shot put, and a jump of 2.14m.
In the Women’s masters category, Anne Boatswain was the was the sole entrant and finished with 170 points. Anne stepped outside her comfort zone, to clock 53.59 in the 200m and 4:38.43 in the 800m. Anne had a great throw of 23.66m in discus and 10.01m in shot put and jumped well to record 2.84m.
The Women’s A grade ended in a tie between between Aurora Boatswain and Lily Sproule, both on 180 points. Aurora ran in 2nd in the 200m in 35.29 and was 3rd in the 800m in 3:39.63. In discus Aurora threw 19.94m while in shot put she recorded 5.72m and in long jump 3.02m. Lily Sproule ran well to clock 29.60 in the 200m and 2:30.37 in the 800m. In the throwing events, Lily threw 17.78m in discus and 7.09m in shot put, and in long jump Lily leapt 4.39m. Ellie Cooper was third with 160 points. Ellie had a good run in the 200m with 40.86 and pushed through in the 800m to finish in 4:19.44. In the throwing circle, Ellie shone achieving 21.80m in discus and 8.33m in shot put, and in long jump Ellie jumped 2.48m.
Lana Crawford won Women’s B grade on 190 points, narrowly ahead of training partner Emerson Boatswain on 180 points. Lana was 2nd in both the 200m (28.73) and 800m (2:30.37) while Emerson was 6th in the 200m (31.83) and 4th in the 800m (2:41.52) . Emerson threw 19.08m in discus to Lana’s 11.77m while in shot put Emerson threw 6.89m, beating Lana’s 6.25m. In long jump there was just 1cm separating the two athletes, with Emerson jumping 3.49m and Lana 3.48m. Heidi Saviane finished third with 140 points, running 37.42 in the 200m and 3:18.05 in the 800m, and throwing 18.58m in discus, 6.79m in shot put and jumping 2.49m.
In the Women’s C grade, Chelsea Corbridge was a clear winner on 230 points. Chelsea won her 200m heat in 35.88 and was 3rd home in the junior 800m in 3:07.59. In the field, Chelsea placed first in each event, throwing 10.56m in discus, 5.73m in shot put and jumping 2.89m. In second place was Isla Saviane on 180 points. Isla ran well to place 2nd in the 200m in 40.80 and was 4th in the 800m in 3:22.85. Isla threw 10.22m in discus and 5.20m in shot put and jumped 2.78m.
Hazel Saviane and Lani Parmenter were joint winners of Women’s D grade on 190 points. Hazel clocked 46.31 for 4th place in the 200m and 3:50.65 in 5th place in the 800m while Lani recorded 42.82 in 3rd place in the 200m and 3:44.03 for 4th in the 800m. Hazel was 1st in the field with 10.09m in discus, 4.69m in shot and 2.27m in long jump. Lani was 2nd in discus (7.07m), shot put (3.51m) and long jump (2.27m).
Grace Parmenter won Women’s E Grade with 190 points. Grace had a solid run in the 200m with 1:06.33 and in the 800m with 5:10.70. In discus, Grace threw 3.72m and in shot put 3.42m while in long jump she managed 1.65m. Rosie Saviane was second on 130 points recording 1:08.48 in the 200m and 5:19.00 in the 800m, along with 3.13m in discus, 2.56m in shot put and 1.25m in long jump. There were 10 points separating third and fourth place. Kayleigh Kingdom accumulated 110 points and Coco Prayetno 100 points. Kayleigh’s results were 200m (1:33.93), 800m (6.40), discus (3.10m), shot put (1.45m) and long jump (1.40m). Coco’s were 200m (1:36.70), 800m (6.43), discus (3.41m), shot put (2.11m) and long jump (1.00m).
