On Wednesday 22nd January Eva Moeller-Duhme set not one, not two, but three new records in the 70+ group.
Eva began the night with a 600m running home in 3.36.99.
Then Eva lined up on the start line for the 100m and ran through in 25.19 for a new record.
Still with energy to spare, Eva returned to the track for the 200m and finished in 55.33 for another record.
Great job Eva!
In the 600m Ethan Havadjia clocked the fastest time of the night with 1.36.85. Ryan Fleming was not far behind in 1.42.95. In third place, fresh back from Dubbo Country Championships was Erin Smart in 1.49.43 and Zac Havadjia was close on her heels in 1.50.65.
In the 100m Ethan was again the fastest in 12.62. Brother Zac chased him down the straight, after a slippery start, but couldn’t quite catch him, clocking 12.95. Ryan Fleming was next fastest with 13.36 followed by Erin Smart with 13.61, Patrick Ozolins with 13.70 and Paul Musgrove with 13.98.
The 1500m had a field of 23 making the lap counting interesting for officials. Tom Duncan was out in front, crossing in 5.29.89 followed closely by Dennis Smart in 5.33.81. Scott Johnson clocked 6.06.97 two steps ahead of Emily McLaren in 6.07.16. It was great to see Patrick, Flynn and Liam O’Leary all stretching their tired legs over the 1500m after a very busy program of events at Country Championships. Great commitment boys!
In the field Tim Musson hurled the discus 35.80m with Ron Cox almost matching his throw with 34.32m. Tim also speared 39.48m in javelin and 9.86m in shot. Mel Jennings and Kerrie Jones both had a good night of throws in four events. Mel achieved 19.29m in discus, 16.00m in javelin, 8.04m in shot and 22.22m in hammer. Whilst Kerrie threw 17.80m in javelin, 13.88m in javelin, 6.37m in shot and 20.95m in hammer. Talea Miller also did well in the throwing arena with a throw of 28.98m in discus and 15.36m in javelin.
In the long jump pit our youngest competitors had fun. Xavier O’Neil jumped 3.80m for the biggest jump with Hunter Park jumping 3.45m and Harry Thomson 3.39m. Evie Smart and Tom Smart both got jumps on the board with Evie measuring 2.65m and Tom 2.83m. Even tiny Emily Peace had a jump of 1.93m.
It’s great to see everyone enjoying athletics and ‘having a go’ regardless of age, speed, size or gender.
