The final night of track and field season took place on Wednesday 8th March.
Athletes enjoyed a variety of diverse distances on the track. First up was the 120m sprint. The youngest athletes lined up first. In Heat 1 Hewie Sproule took the win in front of Jaxon Keogh. Heat 2 was won by Wyatt Binney followed by Mack Tanner. Heat 3 stepped up the pace and was taken out by Archie Higgins with Evie Binney 2nd and Evie Smart 3rd. Heat 4 was contested by some more youngsters with Charli Keogh taking the win followed by Isla Savianne, then Lucy Barker, Hazel Savianne and Jordan Tanner. The senior race was taken out by Byron Osgood with Scott Martin 2nd and Sam Keogh 3rd. Gavin Dyball was 4th and Jo Higgins was 5th.
The 2nd race on the program, was the 300m handicap event. Archie Higgins sprinted his way to a win in heat 1 whilst Benny Sproule was 2nd and Darcy Binney was 3rd. Heat 2 saw a huge handicap start offered to tiny Rosie Savianne who went on to take the win. Hazel Savianne was next to cross the finish line followed by Lily Sproule. In Heat 3, Charli Binney held on to her handicap advantage to achieve victory with Jo Higgins hot on her heels whilst Lily Sproule was 3rd, Scott Martin was 4th, Gavin Dyball was 5th, Dennis Smart 6th and Byron Osgood 7th.
The final track event was a 1200m race. Hamish McLaren took an easy win whilst Scott Martin was 2nd and Evie Binney was 3rd. Gavin Dyball was 4th home, followed by the Smart trilogy, Tom Smart, then Evie Smart and Dennis Smart. In total there were 17 runners in the race, whilst Emily McLaren and Charli Keogh enjoyed a leisurely 1200m walk.
There were no times recorded for any races.
Athletes also enjoyed fun in the field for the final night of the season.
