Wednesday 17th December was the last night of competition for 2014 for Nowra Athletics.
Committee members were pleased with the attendance for the slightly modified version of Round 10
As a bonus for the evening,.all competitors who check results will note they scored ‘double points’ in all events. Despite the rather heavy track Andrew Rodda managed to lower his 60mt record he set last month. Well done Andrew.
The final event for the evening was the Christmas Mile which was hotly contested by a number of athletes, including Alex Pitkethly who made a surprise visit to the club while enjoying some annual leave. .
However the gun runners were too good on the night for Alex. The event was taken out by the ever-smiling Leith Babian, who won a prized plum pudding!
2nd was Brad Sawyers and in a sprint finish Liam Dooley took third place in front of Alex Pitkethly. Cristine Suffolk claimed the pudding being the first female.
The evening concluded with a delicious variety of pizzas & garlic bread generously provided by Andrew Havadjia. Judging by the speed the food disapeared it certainly was enjoyed & appreciated as athletes ate, mingled and chatted about the season thus far,.certainly agreed It was a great way to finish the year!
Club members will enjoy a break for the holiday season and resume on Wednesday January 7th.
A gentle reminder, Wednesday 14th January will be held at Wollongong’s Beaton Park with Wollongong Athletics Club. Please note there will be no competition at Nowra on this night.
