As usual there was plenty of enthusiasm at track and field competition on Wednesday 4th December.
In the long jump pit Isla Baillie had a great jump of 4.34m. Nash Hines jumped well for 3.70m and Hendrix Blinksell recorded 3.46m. Our youngest athletes practiced their jumping technique and had great success including Addison Galloway with 3.71m, Braxton Naylor 3.12m, Jaxon 2.83m, Cobey Lee 2.80m and Madison Sandstrom 2.73m.
In triple jump Kate Wagner recorded 7.52m and Amy Wagner 6.67m.
Tim Musson and Steve Schott both exceeded 10m in shot put with Steve achieving 10.69m and Tim 10.38m whilst in discus, Hamish McLaren recorded the biggest throw of 32.54m.
Again, the youngest athletes gave their best efforts. Rosie Saviane, Kayleigh Kingdom and Isabelle Sandstrom all demonstrated their improving throwing prowess at discus.
On the track, Macca Davis took out the 2000m in 7.29.93 followed by Madeline Oke in 7.54.94 and Airlie Stevens in 7.56.86.
In the 800m, Lily Sproule won her heat in 2.27.48. Steve Schott took out his heat in 2.43.88 whilst Emerson Boatswain was the winner of her heat in 2.49.11 and William Heffill won his heat in 2.52.12. Also having good runs for the 2 lap race were Airlie Stevens (2.34.16), Erin Smart (2.51.07), Peter Dooley (2.57.46) and Evie Smart (2.59.93).
Twelve-year old Isla Baillie was super impressive over 200m, flying around the bend and finishing in 29.25. Experienced sprinters Erin Smart and Steve Schott pushed each other over the 200m, with Steve clocking 27.06 and Erin 27.86. Masters runners John Smith and Andrew Heffill both continue to enjoy all events and had solid sprint results. It was also great to see the Under 6’s trio of Rosie, Kayleigh and Isabelle smiling their way throughout the 200m event, and being rewarded with their lollies at the end.
Nowra Athletics Club prides themselves on being a family club so encouraging the very youngest to the most mature athletes is always a priority of the weekly events.
