The rain held off again for the second week in a row to enable Nowra Athletics Club Track and Field competition to take place on Wednesday 19th October.
In the field, Tori Sayer took advantage of the opportunity to throw and set a new record in the hammer with a mighty throw of 25.9m.
The junior throwers were in fine form in the discus circle. New member Lennox Morrow threw 19.03m whilst Aidan McLaren threw 17.56m and Mack Tanner 15.28m. In the girls discus Mali Mustapic threw 12.39m, Heidi McLaren 11.97m, and Heidi Savianne 11.92m. In the seniors groups Hamish McLaren put the discus out 27.11m while sister Emily McLaren achieved 18.97m. Our top three veteran throwers were fairly evenly matched in the discus circle with Mel Jennings throwing 20.83m, Andrew Havadjia 20.06m, and Kerrie Jones 16.58m.
On the track, the junior newcomers were prominent with Lennox Morrow taking the win in the junior boys 800m with Ezekiel Blinksell running in 2nd and Mack Tanner 3rd. Evie Binney took out the junior girls race followed by Lulu Mastrangelo then Heidi Savianne. The senior race was claimed by Scott Martin then Tom Brookes took 2nd and Gavin Dyball took 3rd.
There were 10 contenders for the 2000m. Hamish McLaren took the win in 6.55.01 followed by Scott Martin then Emily McLaren. Evie Binney was 4th, with power-horse Peter Dooley running in 5th followed by Gavin Dyball. Youngster Harrison Withyman ran in 7th in 10.33.13 in his first time ever contesting this distance. Darcy Binney was 8th while Heidi Savianne and Jack Savianne rounded out the field.
In the junior sprints there was good competition between young Mack Tanner and Harrison Withyman. In the 60m Mack crossed the line 1st in 10.27 with Harrison 2nd in 10.50, while in the 200m Mack was again 1st, with a time of 37.95 and Harrison 2nd in 39.61.
Tom Brookes sprinted well in the senior races taking good wins in both the 60m and 200m. Also displaying good sprint form was Alisha Mustapic, Evie Binney, Eva Norris and Paul Musgrove.
