Numbers were low as Nowra Athletics Club returned to local competition on Wednesday 3rd March after several weeks of wash outs.
In the 600m senior event there were just five competitors. Scott Martin took an easy win in 01:51.33 followed by Hamish McLaren in 01:58.14 then Sam Keogh, Darlene Musgrove and Lisa Carroll.
The junior race was better represented with thirteen athletes competing. Newcomer Matthew Wisniewski crossed first with Harry Thomson second and Emily McLaren third.
In the 1500m amongst a field of just nine runners, Scott Martin again took the win in a time of 5:07.36 followed by Scott Johnson in 06:16.58 then Sam Keogh in 07:00.18. Elsie Proctor was fourth, Darlene Musgrove fifth, Evie Smart sixth then Tom Smart, Harry Thomson and Charli Keogh rounded out the field.
Erin Smart was the fastest sprinter on the night, clocking 13.33; a good hit out before competing at State Opens on Friday.
Relays were still run, with three teams enthusiastically contesting a handicapped 4x 100m. The relays are always the highlight of the night!
In the field our vet women particularly enjoyed the throws. In the hammer Mel Jennings threw 25.25m, Kerrie Jones 18.05m and Tori Sayer 27.02m. In weight throw Mel Jennings recorded 8.83m whilst Kerrie Jones achieved 8.15m and Tori Sayer 10.76m.
The juniors enjoyed discus and shot. Emily McLaren recorded 19.67m in discus, Elsie Proctor 12.87m and Harry Thomson 12.82m for the biggest throws of the night. Also throwing well was Lana Crawford with 11.40m, Lily Sproule 10.28m and Lachlan Rabey 9.85. In the shot-put circle Evie Smart had a good shot with 5.39m and Chloe Keogh achieved 5m.
