There was a small crowd at Track and Field competition on Wednesday 22nd November, but there were a massive 5 new records set! 4 of them came from field events!
Tori Sayer set a new record in the 30-39 years hammer throw with 28.95m, improving on last week’s throw of 28.85m. Tim Musson also set a new hammer record with his throw of 32.68m for the 40-49 years category, bettering last week’s throw of 29.85m. In the discus circle, Sam Keogh threw a new record of 23.76m in the 40-49 years event, whilst in the shot put, Anne Boatswain put in 8.61m for a new 40-49 years record.
The first track event on the program was the 2000m. Hamish McLaren made it look easy with his long loping strides and took the win in 6.42.90. Scott Armstrong was 2nd in 7.11.52 and Scott Martin was 3rd in 7.23.62.
In the sprint events, Erin Smart was on fire, clocking 8.19 in the 60m and a new record of 27.09 in the 200m. Emily McLaren won both her sprint events and had a good competition with Zoe Musson and Evie Binney. Sylas Murphy and Toby Graham also had good runs in the sprints.
In the junior 800m, Emerson Boatswain had a solid run to finish 1st in 2.57.22. Heidi Saviane was impressive, showing great improvement to take 2nd place in 3.03.84 and Tom Smart was 3rd in 3.06.31. The senior race was also a great race, with Gavin Dyball demonstrating his form, to take the win in 2.30.97. Scott Armstrong put in another great run for the night to take 2nd place in 2.34.52 and Dennis Smart was 3rd in 2.48.24.
