Round 14 of Nowra Athletics Club Winter cross country competition was held on Saturday 8th July at Willandra.
Club registrar Jan Gibb reported that many runners improved their best Willandra time, by minutes in some cases.
There were twelve little runners in the 1km this week with the winner, yet again being Emily McLaren. In second place was Micah Procter and in third place was Amba Florance.
In the 2km Division 1 was taken out by Darcy Davis. Travis Graham was next across the line followed by Thomas Duncan. Running the fastest over 2kms was Toby Dyball in 8.22 minutes. Toby finished fourth from back marker position, running off a 3.10 minute handicap whilst Darcy Arnold was the quickest female in 10.14 minutes.
Division 2 saw Lincon Betts take the top points with Katie Martin taking second place and Myra Betts claiming third place.
Division 1 of the 3km course was won by Wil Osgood. Thomas Pratt ran in second and Isobel Cofield took third place in the fastest female time of 14.49 minutes. William Dyball started off a 4.10 minute handicap and ran through to finish middle of the pack but with the fastest time of 12.41 minutes.
In Division 2 it was Go marker Andrew Havadjia who took line honours with Tennille Wallis second and Alastair Urquhart third.
Medium course Division 1 had just six competitors this week with Jasper Arnold taking the points for the win. Cristine Suffolk was the fastest female crossing in second place in 17.22 minutes and third was Dennis Smart. The fastest male over the 4 kms this week was Cam Musgrove in 15.29 minutes who finished 5th, just in front of fellow back marker Alec Dobson; both running off 2.50 minutes handicap.
Division 2 was claimed by Erin Smart with Dean Bryce running in second and Phillip Duncan took third.
Zahra Wells-Smith may have proclaimed “I’m slow” at the recorders table but conversely was the winner of Division 3 medium course. Husband and wife duo Angela and Gavin Urquhart battled it out for bragging rights, taking second and third place respectively.
In long course this week it was Richard Bosdyk who crossed the line first followed by Bradley Sawyers who is running consistently strong at the moment whilst Peter Khourey was third.
Matt Lewis was the fastest long distance runner this week finishing in 29.10 minutes in seventh place from back marker handicap of 12.30 minutes. Fastest female was Kim Dobson in 39.03 minutes.
Division 2 was won by Darren Morris with committee member Sue Anfruns taking second place and Erich Moeller-Duhme ran in third.
There is only one more week of pointscore competition left with the final points round to be held at Timberhills on July 15th.

However that’s not the end of cross country; there will be some novelty cross country running at Longreach on the 22nd and back again at Timberhills on the 29th before the final week at Willandra on the 5th of August.
This year the cross country winners of each distance and division will be awarded their trophies at the end of season presentation day to be held at Willandra on the 5th of August. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer!
