Cross Country was held at Timberhills on a fresh Winter afternoon on Saturday 30th June. It was a slightly muddy track after some rain during the week but the athletes managed the course well.
In the 1km Tom Smart was first home, followed very closely by sister Evie Smart. Third was Heidi McLaren followed by Everlyn Jennings, Aiden McLaren and then Malachy Martin.
In the 2km event Emily McLaren crossed the line first in Division 1 with Elijah Jennings second and Evie Hill third. Harry Thomson was fourth and sprinter Emerson Brian came in fifth.
In Division 2 Oscar Thomson took the win in front of Dylan Cox who “ran all the way this week without stopping” said proud grandparent. Third was William Anderson followed by Katie Martin and Noah Dyball.
Frances Fairs was the winner of the 3km Division 1. In second place was Hamish McLaren and third was Toby Dyball. Running in fourth was Alisha Mustapic followed by Sam Maher, Ruby Marshall and Luke Cournane.
In Division 2 it was Bridget Fairs who took the win in the fastest time of 12.04 whilst Darcy Arnold was second. Third was Darlene Musgrove, running for the first time in months and fourth was Caitlyn Fairs. Crossing the line in fifth place was Hannah Brian who accidentally missed the 3km turn and ran an extra kilometre for good measure!
Medium course Division 1 victor was Lucas Johnson. Second was Blake Hartnett and third was Cameron Musgrove who ran the quickest time of 20:54. Lachlan Kaszonyi was fourth whilst Jade Mustapic was fifth as the first female home in 24:26. Cristine Suffolk was close on her heels running 24:34. Owen Cox was cheered across the finish line and welcomed with a big hug from daughter Dylan, finishing seventh in 22:48.
In Division 2 Raz Morgan was the winner with Geoff Crook second, running well after his holiday abroad. In Division 3 the win was taken by Levi Wallis. Cath Head was second and Committee member John Price was third with Alex Arnold fourth.
Long course Division 1 was claimed by Scott Martin. Second was Darrin Smith and third was Perry Strand. Next was Richard Bosdyk followed by Bradley Sawyers, Scott Johnson and Michael Duncan.
Division 2 was taken out by Dean Bryce in front of Rebecca Cooper. Milton Cox was third, still running strong despite a leg injury and fourth was Natasha Toms just in front of running pal Sky Martin.
