Track and Field on 1st February was another opportunity for athletes to run a 1km race, in preparation for the upcoming Nowra show 1km handicap event. Evie Binney took out the race in 3:42.17 followed by Lily Sproule in 3:42.48 and then Archie Higgins in 3:43.25.
In the field, Tim Musson threw the hammer 16.83m for a new 40-49 years record. Tim also threw the javelin 39.69m and the shot 9.66m, which may not have been records, but were both the biggest distances achieved on the night.
Dennis Smart was the winner of the 1500m whilst Evie Binney was 2nd in 5:58.52 and Lily Sproule was 3rd in 5:58.70.
Erin Smart was the fastest sprinter on track, completing the 60m in 8.65 and 100m in 13.44. Emily McLaren showed good speed over 60m to cross in 9.43. Harry Thomson ran the same time of 9.43 whilst Sam Keogh clocked 9.52 and young Riley Sandstrom clocked 9.93.
Newcomers Celia Cox and Silas Cox had a great first night. Celia threw discus 8.50m and shot 4.24m whilst Silas threw 12.20m in discus. On the track Celia ran 12.83 in the 60m, 20.82 in the 100m and clocked 5:42.00 over 1000m. We hope to see them back next week.
