There were two records broken last week at Nowra Athletics Track and Field competition. Doug McNally threw the shot put 8.77 metres to set a new record, throwing 3 cms more than the old record. Kerrie Jones, fresh from her competition at Country Championships last weekend also set a new record in the javelin. Kerrie speared 15.00 metres breaking the old record of 14.6 metres. Congratulations to both Doug and Kerrie!
Also throwing well was Tori Sayer who threw 8.54m in shot put. Steve Thomson and Taylor Moffat both threw 6.95m and Byron Osgood measured 6.88m. Kerrie Jones threw the shot 6.38m and Erin Smart tested her throwing arm out with a throw of 6.07m.
In javelin Hannah Brian continues to improve under the guidance of Doug McNally. Hannah threw 18.52 metres just behind Taylor Moffat who speared 18.66 metres. Meanwhile Tori Sayer surpassed them all with a huge throw of 32.91 metres.
In the 600m Cameron Musgrove took the win in front of Brad Sawyers and Scott Martin however in the longer 1500m it was Brad who crossed the line first followed by Scott Martin and third was Cameron Musgrove. Dennis Smart was fourth in both events.
In the sprints Emerson Brian and Lachlan Kaszonyi ran well while it was great to see Marty Bell back on the track in the senior races.
Laila Hatnett, Kate Martin, Allie Moffat and Emily McLaren all ran strongly in the junior girls track events while in the boys events Liam Johnstone, Dylan Johnstone, Brody Woods and Charlie Heidke performed well.
Track and field will conclude on Wednesday 28 February so not many weeks left to get some running, jumping and throwing in!
