The Sydney Ten was run on Sunday May 2nd at Sydney Olympic Park. There were a massive 2,099 entrants across the program of events, making the 2021 Sydney 10 the biggest event EVER for Run NSW. For thirteen Nowra athletes it was an event to be celebrated amongst peers, friends and family.
Cam Musgrove was Nowra’s fastest representative. He finished the 10kms in under 35 minutes, coming in at position 111 from 1489 competitors in an official time of 34.34. This was a great effort off the back of a post-season break.
Geoff Crook ran strongly to complete the 10km race in an official time of 1.00.08. Geoff clocked himself at just under the hour mark, and the chip time was 59.52 but whichever way you look at it, whatever time you take as ‘official’, it was a fantastic run.
It was a family affair for Team Dyball with four members of the family contesting the 10kms.
Will Dyball clocked 36.58 after smashing out a super fast first kilometre before reigning himself back in to a steadier stride. Will finished in position 219 with an average pace of 3.42/km.
Toby Dyball clocked 43.24. At 14 years of age Toby averaged 4.20/km and finished in position 502; quite an impressive feat amongst a massive field.
Gavin Dyball powered through the two laps of Olympic Park, clocking 49.19 whilst Ella Dyball clocked 51.09 and was 11th in her age group from 22 female runners. Dakota Farn also competed in the 10km event, racing up a wave to run alongside friend Ella.
Youngest Dyball family member, Noah, contested the 2km run and finished 35th in 9.59.
Darlene Musgrove completed her first 10km race, with little to no training, and urged on by Mel Mustapic they both got to the finish line together in 65.30 minutes.
Glen Mustapic took several minutes of his previous 10km race time, crossing the line in 47.11 and was 52 from 97 males in the 50-54 years age group.
Meanwhile Alisha Mustapic completed the 5km race in a time of 22.15. Mark O’Leary also competed in the 5kms, testing his sprinter legs over a much longer distance and clocked an inspiring time of 23.23.
Congratulations to all our Nowra athletes.
