Another glorious day greeted the runners who ventured forth to take on the grueling Cambewarra course for this edition of Summer road Runs. Once again everyone was vying for a podium place so they could win a much sought after chocolate. This week Maxine made a welcome comeback. It’s been a few weeks since she’s run with the Club and of course we all heard the usual “I’ll be lucky to finish cause I haven’t been running much”. Needless to say, Maxine had a great handicap and enough determination to cross the line in first place (enjoy your kitkat Max, cause it will be the only one you get).
The handicapper has taken notice and will correct his erroneous ways for next week. Paul Duncan also made a comeback, taking out 2nd place. Hot on Paul’s heels and from the back of the pack came Scott Martin who stormed home to take out 3rd place. Scott Johnson rounded out the 4 to take home a chocolate.
It was a bit of party atmosphere with celebrations for birthdays for Lisa, Ava and Malachy, with a feast being supplied by Karen and Brad Sawyer who threw a very successful Relay for Life morning tea earlier in the day. Tomerong is next week’s destination. There are hills and inclines aplenty so bring your energy and determination.
