The rain eased enough on Saturday 15th August for cross country competition to go ahead at Vincentia.
The number of competing athletes were less than previous weeks as a result of the weather and the Club thanks those that came and ran, wading through puddles along the course!
Malachy Martin and Aiden McLaren were the only two competitors in the 1km course whilst the 2km event had 12 participants. The first three runners’ home in the 2kmwere non-members Teila Jenickova, Taylor Fay and Savanna Gardner. Then taking the points for the win was Rose Atkins followed by Lailani Halliday and Tiffany Atkins.
In the 3km Noah Dyball took line honours with Zac Peters second and Hamish McLaren clocked the fastest time as he crossed in 12.00 for third place. Emily McLaren was fourth as the fastest female then Katie Martin was fourth, followed by Andrew Havadjia and Toby Dyball.
Medium course winner was Ethan Havadjia in 22.38. Peter Dooley claimed second place in 22.54 and Perry Strand was third in 23.35. Brad Sawyers clocked the fastest time crossing in 20.44 in fifth, just marginally quicker than Will Dyball who finished in seventh in 20.57.
Division 2 winner was Sharon Bryce followed by Alex Arnold then Eva Moeller-Duhme, Angela Bond, Alison Havadjia and Darcy Arnold.
Long course was taken out by Matthew Schofield in 38.40 whilst Jasper Arnold who crossed in ninth place ran the quickest time of 38.32. Second place getter was Zac Havadjia and third was Richard Bosdyk. Division 2 was won by Michael Brodnick followed by Michael Duncan and Dean Bryce, who may or may not have taken a shortcut- we can never be sure!
The weather forecast is looking good for this coming weekend so hopefully we won’t need to get our feet wet again!
