Ten Nowra athletes travelled to New Zealand to compete in Queenstown on Saturday 19th November, in what is known as the most beautiful location for a marathon.
The enthusiastic runners had great success and great fun. Angela Bond said “It’s beautiful here. I recommend the race, very scenic and friendly” after running in 6th in the 10kms 50-59 years group in 54 mins 26. Husband John Bond completed the distance in 1hr17mins03 and was 74th in the men’s 50-59 years group.
Sharyn Bryce improved her 10km time by over half a minute to finish in 1hr7mins44 and placed 47th in the 50-59 years group. Donna Johnson also ran well to finish in 1hr14mins52, placing 85th from 272 competitors in the 50-59 years group.
Eva Moeller-Duhme was 2nd in the 70+ age group from a pool of 25 runners and finished the 10km race in an impressive 1hr19mins31.
In the half marathon Dean Bryce improved his time by 1 minute 10 seconds, running home in 1hr50mins43 to place 34th from 256 runners in the men’s 50-59 years group. Scott Johnson crossed the line in 1hr53mins24 and was 39th in the same age group.
