There were 2 records set in the field on Wednesday 29th January by mother-daughter duo. Emerson Boatswain threw 14.35m for a new hammer record in the 12-13 years group, exceeding her previous record of 13.14m. Meanwhile Anne Boatswain set a new 40-49 years discus record with a throw of 26.51m, edging out her old record of 25.23m. Congratulations to this talented pair.
Also in the field, Riley Sandstrom had a great throw of 27.10m in the 10-11 years discus. Braxton Naylor was impressive with 24.98m in the under 9 group and Kadance Naylor was equally impressive with 28.74m. Tim Musson recorded the biggest discus throw with 34.98m and Geoff Crook put in a great effort with 24.76m. Our youngest athletes practiced their throwing techniques with gusto; Rosie Saviane threw 2.47m and Kayleigh Kingdom 1.79m.
In the long jump pit, the biggest jumps came from Emerson Boatswain (3.56m), Charli Keogh (3.39m),and Thor Jackson (3.30m).
On the track, Emerson Boatswain continued her winning streak with 1st place in the 2km in 8.21.87. Macca Davis was 2nd in 8.28.86 and Kai Thirwall was 3rd in 8.54.94. In 4th place was Hugh Thirwall in 9.22.28 followed by William Heffill in 9.42.65 who in the closing metres of the race, out-sprinted dad Andrew Heffill with 9.43.27.
In the 800m, Macca Davis took out his heat in 2.59.08 followed by Thor Jackson in 3.01.35 and William Heffill in 3.17.03. Heat 2 was won by Erin Smart in 2.36.63 whilst Emerson Boatswain was 2nd in 2.55.85 and Heidi Saviane in 3.33.91.
The sprint event of the night was 200m. Erin Smart was the quickest, clocking 28.72, straight after finishing the 800m. Elizabeth Davis showed good technique and crossed the line in 33.29 as did Kiefer Spearpoint who clocked 37.88. Nathan Rose, always an enthusiastic competitor, had a good run with 41.68.
