Last week, 6th November, Peter Dooley set another new 1500m record in the 60-69 years category.
Pete ran home in 5:24.42, beating his old record of 5:26.5. Congratulations Peter.
The winner of the 1500m was actually Scott Martin in 04:59.10 with Pete running in second. Dennis Smart was third in 05:28.56 and young Emily McLaren was fourth in 05:38.79.
Ethan Havadjia took out the senior heat of the 600m in 01:33.38 beating big brother Zac Havadjia who was marginally behind in 01:35.31. Lachlan Kaszonyi was hot on Zac’s heels in 01:35.94 and Erin Smart was fourth in 01:46.39. The junior heat was won by Toby Dyball in 01:56.08 with Emily McLaren second in 02:01.46 and Jett Goddard third in 02:12.66.
There were multiple heats of the 60m and 100m sprints with a large collection of enthusiastic participants. Lachlan Kaszonyi was the quickest across the 60m clocking 07.67. Ethan Havadjia was next quickest in 08.16 and Jackson Jennings wasn’t far behind in 08.35.
In our junior races Lachlan Woods, Toby Dyball, Henry Parrish, and Ruby Marshall were amongst the fastest sprinters.
Nowra Athletics Club welcomes all participants, of all ages and abilities. It’s not all about winning; participating and having fun is extremely important. A big shout out must go to Lizzy Styles for participating in every track event and completing each event with enthusiasm and positivity. Her ‘never give up’ efforts and improvement are commendable.
In long jump there were just three jumpers with Jackson Jennings jumping 4.90m, Paul Musgrove 4.68m and Tom Brookes 3.50m. The juniors enjoyed high jump. Tom Brookes jumped 1.30m and Mireille Smith cleared the bar at 1.20m whilst Lily Sproule, Emily McLaren and Alisha Mustapic all cleared 1.10m.
Ethan Havadjia speared 30.36m in javelin, and Tori Sayer threw 29.06m. Jett Goddard threw well achieving 26.32m as did Andrew Havadjia with 28.57m.
Emily McLaren achieved 7.05m in shot and Ruby Marshall achieved 7.03m. Henry Adams threw 6.09m and Henry Parrish showed his might with a throw of 8.20m. Macklin Berry and Hamish McLaren also had good throws.
