The first round of cross country took place at Hollyhill on Saturday 1st April. There was a strong showing of competitors to open the season.
In the 1km event, there were 2 enthusiastic competitors, Hayley Aston-Briggs and Luca Sturgiss.
In the 2km Darcy Binney finished 1st in 10.50 whilst Malachy Martin was 2nd in 11.10 and Joshua Aston-Briggs was 3rd in 13:15. Phoebe Armstrong was 4th in 14.03, Scott Armstrong was 5th in 14.04 and Halle Wallis was equal 6th with Winter Bell in 16:02. The field was rounded out by Ashleigh Aston-Briggs in 16:12.
The 3km had 28 eager competitors. Taking the win was Macarthur Davis in 15:02 followed by Kai Thirwall in 15:06 and Harry Thomson was 3rd in 15:22.
Hamish McLaren was the winner of the medium course from a field of 15, crossing in 18:10, Jarrod James was 2nd in 19:13 and Emily McLaren was 3rd in 23:10.
Long course had 10 athletes and the first runner home was Mark Thirwall in 44:52. Coming in 2nd was Jasper Arnold in 45:17 whilst Scott Martin was 3rd in 45:20.
