Cross Country was at Timberhills this Saturday 28th July. Numbers were well down from last week but nonetheless, it was a good afternoon of running on this picturesque course.
In the 1km event we had just 2 runners and Aiden McLaren crossed the line in front of young Malachy Martin.
In the 2km there were 8 runners and Anna Duncan was the winner. Running in second was Evie Hill followed by Elijah Jennings then Rachael Baxter. In Division 2 William Anderson was the victor with Noah Dyball second, Katie Martin third and Dylan Cox fourth.
From 13 runners the 3km winner was Will Dyball who backed up from a great run at State Cross Country the day before and second was Casey Johnson who was fresh back from representing NSW Country in soccer. Great effort from these aspiring young athletes! It was good to see Ethan Havadjia make his 3km race this week after missing last week’s start and he was rewarded with third place.
Meanwhile, Division 2 had just three runners with Harriet Urquhart taking first place in front of Darcy Arnold and Jasper Leung.
Medium course Division 1 saw Marcus Baxter take the win with Lucas Johnson second in the fastest time of 22:18; and Harrison Baxter third. First female home was Cristine Suffolk, crossing the line in fourth place. Next was Matt Dimmock followed by Owen Cox then Darren Morris.
In Division 2 the winner was Rae Thomson. Making a return this week and taking second place was Zac Havadjia. Third was Gavin Dyball with Angela Urquhart and Lucy Duncan rounding out the division.
Andrew Havadjia took out Division 3 followed by John Price and Gavin Urquhart. Fourth was Graham Smith then Di Court and Alex Arnold were fifth and sixth respectively.
Long course were very low on numbers this week with ten runners completing the 10kms. Claiming the win in Division 1 was Jeremy Head. Second was Scott Martin and third was Perry Strand. Next was Steven McCullagh then Scott Johnson and Bradley Sawyers.
Division 2 had just 4 representatives this week. Taking the points for the win was Richard Bosdyk followed by Rebecca Cooper then Milton Cox and Catherine Head.
Next week cross country will be at Timberhills again. We hope to see you there!
