The NSW 3000m Championships were conducted on the newly laid surface at ES Marks Field on Saturday 29th October 2022.
The day and evening witnessed a great festival of running, with 7 women’s and 12 men’s 3000m races, in addition to 2 community 3000m races.
Nowra had 10 athletes representing the black and gold across these events with 2 wins and 2 third placings amongst the great results.
Nic McGill took out the Men’s 3000m H Race in 9.38.92 which was a huge 13 second PB whilst Amelia May claimed victory in the women’s B Race in 10.04.89, which was also a PB.
Lana Crawford ran in 3rd in the women’s G Race in 12.07.74 – a great effort for an 11 year old! Harrison Baxter also placed 3rd in his race – the men’s F race, with a PB of 9.24.30.
Cameron Baxter finished 9th in the men’s I Race with 10.06.73 whilst brother Oliver was 11th in the same race in 10.14.20.
Ten year old Macca Davis was 19th in the K Race in 11.36.26 and had a great run amongst much older athletes.
The Master athletes had fantastic races with Mark O’Leary finishing 16th in L Race in 13.45.00 and Katrina Ward placing 7th in the women’s G Race in 12.24.70.
Meanwhile Airlie Stevens contested the 800m B race and ran home 4th in a PB of 2.39.62.
