Nowra athletes returned to the track on Wednesday 11th January 2023.
Erin Smart clearly benefited from the Christmas break, and was on fire, breaking two records. Erin clocked 13.23 in the 100m bettering her previous record of 13.36. In the 150m, Erin ran 19.51, improving her old record of 20.28.
Riley Sandstrom also set a new record in the U9 long jump, leaping 4.13m. Pretty impressive for someone so young!
There were some good performances in the 1000m, in preparation for the upcoming Nowra Show 1km handicap race. Lana Crawford, Tom Smart, Mack Tanner and Lily Sproule were among the top junior runners. Visiting runners Ethan Havadjia and William Harding took out the senior race.
Dennis Smart won the 3km race in front of son Tom Smart, in a race which had just 3 competitors. Braxton Barker also competed, finishing 3rd.
In the discus circle, Samantha Peace threw the discus 40.00m whilst Tim Musson hurled 33.46m, Tori Sayer 29.1m and Geoff Crook 28.14m. In shot put Riley Sandstrom achieved 6.84m, Lana Crawford managed 5.89m and Jordyn Tanner threw 4.82m.
More than 60 athletes will head to Country Champs next weekend. We wish them the very best of luck.
