Track and Field competition has returned with some top results to kick off the season.
Peter Dooley broke the 60-69years 600m record on 16th October running home in 01:49.42.
Whilst in the field Mel Jennings broke the 50-59years shot put record with a distance of 8.23 metres.
Congratulations to both these athletes.
In other results, Cam Musgrove finished first in the senior 1500m event clocking 04:47.55. Peter Dooley was second in 05:28.36 and Cameron Baxter, running against the big people, was third in 05:37.24. Emily McLaren took out the junior race in 06:00.61. Leila Ferrera was second in 06:31.31 and Myra Betts was third in 06:44.58.
Ethan Havadjia and Cam Musgrove had a bit of a battle in the main heat of the 600m with Cam just getting edged out in the final straight. Ethan had a deserving win in 01:30.62 whilst Cam crossed in 01:31.39 and Scott Martin was third in 01:46.66. Ella Dyball won her 600m event in 01:54.78 and Emily McLaren took out her heat in 02:03.79. Toby Dyball was the winner of his heat in 02:05.29 just edging out Cameron Baxter who crossed in 02:05.87.
In the sprints our fastest seniors over 60m were Jackson Jennings (8.20), Ethan Havadjia (8.29) and Paul Musgrove (8.56).
In the women’s masters it was great to see Karly Goddard lace on her racing shoes for the 60m as well as Alison Havadjia and Janelle Stiles. Both Alison and Janelle also backed up for the 100m as well as completing the 600m and 1500m.
In the girl’s sprints Alisha Mustapic was the quickest over 60m clocking 9.34 with Mireille Smith not far behind in 9.45; Ella Dyball was next fastest in 9.63 and Emily McLaren clocked 9.95.
In the boys 60m Lachlan Woods was the fastest with a time of 8.47 whilst Jackson Musson clocked 8.90 and Toby Dyball finished in 9.01.
In the long jump pit, there were just a handful of participants with Jackson Jennings leaping 4.75m followed by Jackson Musson with a jump of 4.54m and masters jumper Paul Musgrove recording 4.29m.
Tim Musson speared 41.04m in javelin and Geoff Crook made the trek down from Wollongong and threw 26.60m. Jackson Musson recorded 26.32m and Mark O’Leary threw 23.85m.
In the shot-put circle Kane Barrett had the biggest throw of the night with 10.58m whilst Jackson Musson threw 10.55m and Tim Musson achieved 10.48m
Its great to see such a large number of participants enjoying Nowra Athletics Track and Field competition, however a reminder that all participants must register and pay in order for their results to be recorded and for their results to be grouped in the correct age category.
