More records were set on Wednesday 23rd October, both in the field and on the track.
There were 2 records set in the hammer throw, by 2 members of the Boatswain family. Emerson Boatswain threw 11.71m in the 12-13 years group, bettering her previous record of 10.20m set on October 9th. Meanwhile, Nakita Boatswain established a new record in the 18-19 years group with a throw of 15.97m.
On the track, Eva-Maria Moeller-Duhme clocked 2:16.75 for a new 70+ years 400m record.
The master athletes had good success in the high jump arena. Kate Wagner jumped the highest, clearing the bar at 1.30m but it was Erin Smart who officially set a new record of 1.25m in the 40-49 years group, bettering Linda Weatherill’s record of 1.20m set back in the 2007-08 season. Tim Musson cleared 1.20m and Anne Boatswain was jubilant when she successfully jumped 1.15m whilst Steve Schott cleared 1.10m.
The juniors demonstrated plenty of enthusiasm in the high jump this week. Clearing 1.15m was Evie Binney and Hendrix Blinksell. Ezekiel Blinksell jumped 1.05m as did Heidi Saviane. Heath Lee, Josie Sproule, Emerson Boatswain and Evie Smart all cleared 0.95m whilst Phoebe Armstrong and Maggie Ball both jumped 0.90m.
Hamish McLaren had a great throw in javelin with 41.40m and Tori Sayer speared 20.22m.
In shot put, Macarthur Davis had the biggest throw with 7.02m, and in long jump Emerson Boatswain jumped the furthest with 3.60m whilst Josie Sproule and Evie Smart both jumped 3.57m.
Over 100m, Harry Thomson clocked the quickest time of 13.40 followed by Erin Smart with 13.59.
Toby Dyball set a good time in the 400m with 56.66. Jonah Watson acted as pacer for Erin Smart and clocked 1:01.85 whilst Erin Smart clocked 1:02.11. Steve Schott had a good run with 1:04.87 as did Airlie Stevens with 1:05.26.
New to track and field, Andrew Lee put in 100% effort over 400m and finished strong for 5th in his heat in 1:11.72. He then re-gathered his breath to back up in the 100m taking the win in his heat with 15.09.
Macarthur Davis had a good win in the 3000m with 11:48.27. Madeline Oke was 2nd in 12:01.00 and Airlie Stevens was 3rd in 12:08.58. Gavin Dyball was 4th in 12:35.76, William Heffill was 5th in 12.57.24 and Emerson Boatswain was 6th in 13:04.69. Mark O’Leary, Angela Bond, Geoff Crook and John Smith all had good runs over this distance.
