The ACT 2024-25 U20 & Open Championships were held at the AIS over the Australia Day long weekend.
Alisha Mustapic hurdled her way to a bronze medal in the Under 20 400m hurdles race with a time of 1.08.29.
It was silver linings for Hamish McLaren with 2nd place in both the Under 20 3000m steeplechase and in the javelin. Hamish clocked 11.31.27 in the steeplechase, finishing behind NSW athlete Macleay Kesby whilst in the field, Hamish speared 38.50m, edging out James Watson from Goulburn who threw 31.74m.
Tom Brookes and Jonah Watson both contested the Under 20 hurdles events and earned themselves PB’s in each race. In the 110m hurdles event, Tom was 6th in 16.12 and Jonah was 7th in 16.62. In the 400m hurdles, Tom came in 5th in 1.00.22 whilst Jonah was right on his heels in 6th place in 1.00.43.
In the men’s open 1500m, the Baxter boys were on fire. Harrison finished 37th overall with a 4 second PB of 4.03.13 and Oliver was not far behind in 39th place with a 7 second PB of 4.05.21.
