Sutherland Interclub was held on 31st October at Sylvania Waters Athletics Track in terrible conditions, with rain and hail turning long jump pits into swimming pools.
In the Women’s open 1500m Emily McLaren finished 7th in heat 2 in a time of 5.30.40 putting her 19th overall.
In the men’s race Jett Goddard completed his first ever ANSW event running a consistent race in 5:13.54 achieving a 7 second PB for 10th place. Hamish McLaren finished 12th in 5:21.07 in the same race.
In the 400m Erin Smart ran a tough race with a killer headwind and still managed her best season opener so far, easily winning her heat in 59.47 and placing 10th overall. Reilly Caswell ran well to take 2nd place in his heat only to find out he earned a DQ for stepping on the line.
Meanwhile at Somersby the NSW Masters Athletics Indoor Throws Championships were conducted on Sunday 1 November.Three indoor events were on offer – Shot Put, Weight Throw and Super Weight Throw. Kerrie Jones competed in all three events and came away with three silver medals. Kerrie achieved 6.51m in shot put, 8.67m in weight throw and 5.78m in the superweight throw. This was Kerrie’s first competition in the superweight throw which was 20 pounds or 9.072 kgs. This was a fantastic achievement. Well done Kerrie.
