Congratulations must go to Kerrie Jones who competed at the Australian Masters Athletics Winter Throws held at Kerryn McCann Athletics Centre over the long weekend; October 5th – 7th.
As usual, Kerrie had a busy program of events, entering 7 events.
Kerrie finished with 4 second placings and 3 third placings.
Kerrie was 2nd in Shot Put with a distance of 6.26 metres, 2nd in Discus with a top throw of 15.54 metres, and 2nd in Javelin spearing 12.07 metres.
Kerrie earned herself second overall in the Heavy Weight Pentathlon with accumulated points of 2497. In this event competitors indulge their appetite for the Heavy Weight! Not only do they throw their normal size Weight but also the two Weights that are immediately lighter and heavier than their normal weight. Kerrie achieved 11.25 metres with the 3kg weight, 9.60 metres with 4kg, 7.41 metres with 5.45 kg, 6.26 metres in the 7.26 kg weight and 5.09 metres with 9.08kg.
Kerrie also came 3rd in the Hammer throw with 20.68 metres, and 3rd in Weight throw with 8.79 metres.
In the Weight Pentathlon Kerrie earned 2422 points for overall third place after achieving 19.26 metres in 3kg hammer, 5.92 metres in 3kg shot, 14.76 metres in 1kg discus, 13.41 metres in 500g javelin and 8.67 metres in 5.45kg weight throw.
What a champion!
