Round 12 of Nowra Athletics Winter Cross Country Competition was held on Saturday 2nd July at the McKinnon’s farm in Tomerong.
While those 18 years and over made their compulsory visit to polling booths around the area, many Club members still managed to squeeze in an afternoon’s run at the picturesque, but challenging Timberhills course.
Jye Edwards proved once again that he is in top form, running a record time in the Long course. Jye ran across the line first for Division 1 in a record winning time of 32.07 minutes well ahead of the field. Scott Martin was second in 38.14 minutes and Harry McGill crossed third in 34.27 minutes. Hot on the heels of her medal run at the Country Classic, Kim Dobson was the fastest female over the long course, finishing in a time of 47.21 minutes.
In Division 2 Doug Jeffrey claimed first place followed by David Hughes. Third was Kathy Hopkins and then showing he has maintained his fitness after his extended overseas holiday was Geoff Crook who placed fourth.
In medium course Division 1 Jesse Buckham claimed line honours with the fastest male time of 19.07 minutes. Training partner Cooper Thomson was second and Rhys Flood was third. Crossing in sixth place was Crissy Suffolk who recorded the fastest female time of 21.43 minutes.

The 3 kilometre event had just a dozen competitors this week with Division 1 taken out by Byron Osgood. Second was William Dyball and third was Jasper Arnold. Division 2 was won by Ella Dyball, while Andrew Havadjia took second and third was claimed by Jasper Leung.
There were a few more runners in the 2 kilometre event with 19 starters. Division 1 saw Bethany Dobson cross first with the fastest female time of 9.35 minutes. Roxi Florance ran in next followed by Brae Hudson. Harry Thomson claimed victory in Division 2 with Harriet Urquhart second and Levi Wallis third.
In the shortest event there were just 6 competitors. Callula Norwood once again grabbed a win in the 1 kilometre event, with Tynan Caswell running in second and Lexie Burinaga staking her claim on third place. Connor Minchin was next, followed by Noah Dyball and then Mali Mustapic.
Next Saturday’s run will be held at Longreach Rd on 9th July.
The following Saturday will see the State Road Relays held at Ourimba Campus. Nowra Athletics Club traditionally sends selected Club teams to the Relays so if you are interested at all make sure you let a Committee member know.
