The Vincentia run on Saturday 25th July was enjoyed by most – perhaps with the exception of Gavin Dyball who unfortunately hurt his ankle during medium course. Hospital xrays have reported ligament damage and sprain. Gavin is resting up and we wish him a speedy recovery. Many thanks to those members who offered assistance and well wishes.
The 1km had seven eager participants this week with newcomer Lailani Halliday running in first in 5:14 minutes. Next home was Ben Sproule followed by big sister Josie Sproule. Fourth was Malachy Martin then Hugh Sproule, Amarlie Halliday and powering through to the finish line this week was a very determined Aiden McLaren.
Eleven contenders completed the 2 km course and it was a smiling Olivia Rabey who took line honours. Dom Sargeant was second home followed by Mali Mustapic. Harry Thomson crossed fourth with the fastest time of 4.16 and Airlie Stevens was only marginally behind in fifth in 4.17. Myra Betts was sixth, then Heidi McLaren followed by Winter Bell, Elsie Procter, Miller Bell and Connor Minchin.
There were sixteen competitors in the 3km event. Lily Sproule was first home with Noah Dyball second and Andrew Havadjia third. Tom Duncan and Toby Dyball were equal fastest finishing the 3km in 4.00 minutes. Charlie Fay and Hamish McLaren were equal second fastest with a race time of 4:03.
In the medium course, there were several runners who didn’t record a time as they stopped mid-race to assist fallen athlete Gavin Dyball. The Club thanks these runners for their selflessness. First across the line was Jade Mustapic who outsprinted Wilson French in the closing metres. Third across the line was Will Dyball however Will accidentally took a short cut (ooops) so his finishing place was adjusted accordingly by the recorder. Harrison Baxter dashed past Club President Scott Johnson just before the finish line to claim the official third place. Bradley Sawyers was fifth and Ethan Havadjia rounded out Division 1, after demonstrating, again, his jump shot prowess!
Division 2 was won by Paul Duncan followed by Sharon Bryce then Alison Havadjia.
Long course victor was Patrick Ozolins whilst second was Chris Berendt and third was Richard Bosdyk. Fourth was Scott Martin in the fastest time of 33:32 with Stephen O’Connor fifth and Peter Khourey sixth. Elisha Bell crossed eighth as first female home in 39:42.
Division 2 was taken out by Rebecca Cooper followed by Dean Bryce who encouraged Rob Woods to the line with much cheering. Erich Moeller-Dhume was fourth followed by Michael Duncan, Leanne Hanson, Sky Martin, Sabina Hamaty and Milton Cox.
Next week’s run is at Hollyhill on Saturday 1st August.
