So, let me ask you this! What do you get when the sun is shining, there is a slight breeze and the track is damp? Perfect running conditions of course and that is what we had when we met for our weekly run out at Huskisson last weekend. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that it was a great point scoring exercise as well for those that turned up because numbers were down (long weekend – Wine festival and whatnot). Not that it made the run any easier but at least you were able to add decent points for your effort.
Crissy Suffolk (who held the record for the medium course) once again broke it and Jye Edwards (who held the record for the long course, broke that record as well. I think it was Aaron Spiessberg-Parker hot on his heels but they started behind me and went past me so fast that I couldn’t be sure. What mud there was out on the track didn’t seem to slow too many down.
Thanks must go out to our dedicated officials as it takes many hands to make a run go smoothly so whether you were recording, timing, directing or helped to set up and bring in the markers we would like to acknowledge that we couldn’t enjoy our run if you guys and girls weren’t behind the scenes to make it run so well.
Don’t forget that in 2 weeks time at Dapto you are invited to run in the NSW State Championships. These are being help at the Kembla Joggers home ground. Anyone who wishes to run must enter on line. Don’t write yourself off as not being good enough or too slow. If you have a bib number then you can enter. This is the first time in many years that it hasn’t been held at Willandra and you are encouraged to enter and enjoy a day of running without having to volunteer and help out prior or after your run. Country medals are also up for grabs so don’t hold back, have a go – you might surprise yourself.
Check out our website for all the official times and keep up to date with what is happening within our club or like us on face book and help spread the word about upcoming events like the King of the Mountain on 5th July (2km, 5km, 10km and 25km) or the Capital to Coast (100km staged event) on August 14-16. If you’re not up to running then please help us out as a marshal. If you are able to help, please contact any official at cross country.
