Cross country was held at Huskisson on Saturday 21st May. The Club welcomed a large number of newcomers and visitors, many of whom took a podium finish.
There were seven participants in the 1km this week with Annie Boatswain crossing the line first, followed by Samantha Binney then Wyatt Binney, Darcy Binney and Charli Binney. Lhiam Crook was sixth home and Eli Brewer was seventh.
The 2km had nine competitors with Emerson Boatswain taking the win in 10:36, which was the fastest time over this distance. Sienna Stone was second in 12:23 and Amelia Percival was third in 13:11. Jack Kinsele was fourth in 12:50 followed by Josie Sproule, Malachy Martin, Isabella Mitchell then Aidan McLaren and Heidi McLaren.
The 3km event was hotly contested by thirty runners. Archie Higgins crossed the line first in 13:39 followed by Evie Binney in second in 13.42 and Heath Lee in third in 15.11. Cameron Baxter crossed in seventeenth place and recorded the fastest time of 11:49 whilst Erin Smart was the fastest female in fourteenth place with a time of 13:11.
Medium course winner was Toby Dyball in 19:49. Next home was Natasha Toms then Phillip Duncan. Harrison Baxter was fastest on course, clocking 18:35 as he crossed in fifteenth place and Amelia May was fastest female with 19:32 in fourteenth place.
Long course had just six participants with Ming Leung taking the win in 48:52. Dean Bryce was second across the line in 52:54 and back-marker Bradley Sawyers was third in the fastest time of 38:15. Scott Johnson took fourth place, followed by Graham Anderson and Peter Khourey.
Next week cross country will be held at Longreach Rd. Just a reminder that non-members must pay $5 to run and unless they are an out-of-area visitor, should only run once as a non-member. After a trial run, runners should register as a member through the ANSW portal, following the links from our website. Community memberships are $85. This provides personal accident insurance as well as access to club meet and designated community events at Athletics NSW meets.
