It was a beautiful sunny afternoon at Hollyhill on Saturday 3rd August; perfect conditions for running cross country.
In the 1km event there were eight eager participants. Finn Goddard was the winner once again followed by Tom Smart, who this week, beat his sister home. Third was Evie Smart then next was Zali Murray, followed by Josie Sproule, Malachy Martin, Poppy Murray and Aiden McLaren.
In the 2km division 1 had just two participants with Lily Sproule taking the win in 10:27 in front of Hannah Vonk. Division 2 saw Cathy Vonk take the win followed by Scott McLaren, Miller Bell, Heidi McLaren and Winter Bell.
The 3km event had healthy numbers with fifteen athletes competing in Division 1 alone. Karly Goddard was the victor with Tom Duncan second and Cameron Baxter third. Crossing the line in ninth place was Harrison Baxter who recorded the fastest time of 13:23. Meanwhile in Division 2 there were three participants and Alison Havadjia finished in front of Katie Martin and Jasper Leung.
Ethan Havadjia crossed the line first in medium course with Erin Smart taking second and Jasper Arnold third with the quickest time of 19:37, and Dennis Smart was fourth. Division 2 saw Darlene Musgrove take the points for the win, from a division field of six with Dean Bryce second and Lucy Duncan third. Division 3 had another seven participants and it was Andrew Havadjia who led the charge home followed by Alex Arnold, Gavin Urquhart, Megan Fitt, John Price, Angela Urquhart and Terry Bailey.
Eighteen resilient runners challenged themselves to two laps of the course. Long course victor was Damian Smith with Richard Bosdyk second and Michael Duncan third. Scott Martin crossed in fourth place but was the fastest with a time of 39:43. Division 2 winner was Ming Leung in front of Sue Strand and Graham Anderson.
After the running everyone was invited to stay for a cuppa and enjoy some afternoon tea. It was a lovely afternoon of yummy food and socialising. Thanks to Lisa Carroll, and Andrew and Alison Havadjia for initiating the afternoon tea and providing a great excuse to stay and chat and re-energise after an afternoon of running.
