It was a small contingency of athletes who ventured out to Hollyhill, despite the threat of rain on Saturday 5th August, and braved the uphill finish line.
As usual, Hayley Astin-Briggs was the only competitor in the 1km race finishing the loop in 8:51.
In the 2km event Dean Osgood was 1st in 7:52 followed by Byron Osgood in 7:53 and then Malachy Martin in 10:18. Darcy Binney was 4th in 8:49 and Ashleigh Astin-Briggs was 5th in 12:35.
The 3km event was won by William Anderson in 17:04. Evie Binney pushed hard for 2nd place in a time of 14:20 and brother Wyatt Binney was 3rd in 17:23. Darcy Davis posted the quickest time of 12:24 in 4th place. In 5th place was Glenn Sansom in 17:44. Elizabeth Davis was 6th in 17:45 as she paced dad Harry Davis up the hill to the finish line, with Harry clocking 18:53 in 7th place. Zoe Musson was 8th in 17:39 and to complete the field Macarthur Davis was 9th in 15:21 whilst Kai Thirlwall was hot on his heels in 10th place in 15:37.
Medium course winner was Katie Martin in a time of 28:24 and Donna Johnson demonstrated great resilience to finish 2nd in 38:06. Geoff Crook and Lisa Carroll ran the course together, chatting the whole way, and finished in 3rd and 4th place, with Geoff crossing just a smidgen in front of Lisa. Alex Arnold rounded out the field in 5th place in 34:04.
There were just 4 contenders willing to take on the 2 laps of the hills and it was Scott Martin who took line honours in 41.21. Scott Johnson was 2nd in 49:37, Graham Anderson was 3rd in 51:25 and Perry Strand was 4th in 50:15.
