Last Wednesday night 10th February Geoff Crook leapt to new heights when he set a 60-69 years high jump record, clearing the bar at 1.15m. Geoff took some tips from Paul Musgrove who advised he has plenty of jump left in him to increase that effort!
Geoff also broke the javelin record spearing 30.70m, furthering his record throw from a few weeks ago of 30.01m.

Also performing well in the field was Tsar Mandavy who jumped 1.60m in high jump and Matt Reid who threw the javelin 37.86m. In the juniors Emily McLaren had a great javelin throw of 17.96m.
In the discus circle the three best throws were just centimetres apart with Hamish McLaren throwing 27.60m, Geoff Crook throwing 27.50m and Tori Sayer recording 27.47m.
The 1000m was taken out by Tom Duncan in 03:03.61 just ahead of Ethan Havadjia who crossed in 03:03.88. Third was Hamish McLaren in 03:25.61. The junior race was won by Cameron Baxter in 03:23.57 with Anna Duncan second in 03:31.22 and Emily McLaren third in 03:39.38.
The sprinters contested 100m, 150m and 400m. Brooklyn Mandavy, Ethan Havadjia, Lachlan Kaszonyi and Tom Duncan all ran well. Masters runners Sam Keogh, Matt Reid, Mark O’Leary and Paul Musgrove also sprinted hard.
Newcomer Mathew Wishiewski battled it out on the track with Harry Thomson, with Matthew taking the win in the 100m whilst Harry took the win in the 150m.
In the 3000m there were just three competitors. Oliver Baxter had a nice win in 11:55.93 in front of brother Cameron Baxter whilst both boys cheered home ‘slow n steady’ Darlene Musgrove.
On Thursday February 11th Nowra athletes were invited to attend the Kembla Joggers February open track night as part of the ANSW Milers Series. Three Nowra athletes competed in the event at Kerryn McCann Athletics Track.
In the 2000m steeplechase Hamish McLaren finished first in 7:59.1 whilst Emily McLaren was second in 8:40.0. In the 400m Darcy Davis was second in Heat 1 with a 4 second PB of 1:03.7 whilst Hamish McLaren was fifth with a time of 1:11.5 and Emily was first in Heat 2 in 1:14.5.
In the 1500mDarcy Davis was fifth earning himself a massive 15 second PB of 5:01.3 whilst Hamish McLaren was sixth in 5:28.7. Emily McLaren then competed in the 3000m and ran well amongst a large field to finish seventeenth in 12:04.6.
