The final points round of the 2022 cross country competition was held at Longreach on 20th August.
In the 2km event Aidan McLaren took the win in 13:25 whilst Malachy Martin was 2nd in 12:10 and Heidi McLaren was 3rd in 22:36.
Andrew Havadjia claimed victory in the 3km in 18:59. Katie Martin ran in 2nd in 18:10 and Steven McCullagh was 3rd in 13:41 but it was Matthew Reid who clocked the fastest time of 13:12, crossing in 8th place. Lily Sproule recorded the fastest female time of 13:42 and Airlie Stevens was not far behind with a time of 13:52.
Medium course was contested by 7 athletes with Alison Havadjia taking the points for the win in 39:19. Angela Bond was 2nd runner home in 32:59 and Eva-Maria Moeller-Duhme was 3rd in 47:31. Scott Johnson was 4th then Hamish McLaren was 5th with the fastest time of 26:20. Alex Arnold was 6th then Emily McLaren rounded out the field.
In long course Scott Martin took the win in 40:01 followed by Graham Anderson in 48:50 and then Dean Bryce in 51:02. Rebecca Cooper was 4th in 53.35 as the sole female representative and Richard Bosdyk completed the field of 5 in 1:00:33.
Next week the season will wrap up with a fun event at Hollyhill. There will be a 2km and 4km run, as well as a fun 2km pick up relay. Normal start time will apply! (that’s 2pm). Everyone is invited to stay for a BBQ after the running and is asked to please bring a desert to have with tea and coffee after the BBQ.
