Round 18 of Cross Country took place at Berry on a very windy and cold Saturday afternoon on 10th August.
In the 1km event there were 4 enthusiastic contenders, oblivious of the weather, with Malachy Martin running in first followed by Miller Bell then Winter Bell and Aiden McLaren.
The 2km was won by Oliver Baxter in 8:54 with brother Cameron Baxter second in a slightly faster time of 8:41. Harry Thomson was third, Trae Yenne fourth and Hannah Vonk fifth.
Division 2 winner was Tom Smart just in front of sister Evie Smart. Next was Cathy Vonk followed by Scott McLaren then Noah Dyball and Heidi McLaren.
Crossing first for the 3km event, from a Division 1 field of ten, was Tom Duncan in 15:05. Second was Emily McLaren in a time of 13:02 but third was Harrison Baxter who was the fastest, clocking 11:49.
In Division 2 Jasper Leung was the victor whilst Lachlan Rabey was second and Alison Havadjia was third. Fourth was Harriet Urquhart and fifth was Katie Martin.
Medium course was taken out by Bradley Sawyers in the fastest time of 15:51. Will Dyball was second, Dennis Smart third and Erin Smart fourth.
Division 2 had 9 participants. Holly Bond took line honours, in a time of 19:06. Dean Bryce ran in second and Alastair Urquhart took third. Meanwhile Division 3 had another five competitors and it was Angela Urquhart who took the points for the win followed by Gavin Urquhart, then Andrew Havadjia, Megan Fitt and John Price.
Long course winner was Perry Strand in 40.44; Michael Duncan was second and Elisha Bell was third as fastest female in 40:58. Scott Martin crossed the line in fourth place but was the fastest in 36:13. Richard Bosdyk was fifth and Scott Johnson was sixth. Division 2 was light in numbers this week however taking the win was Sue Strand in front of Ming Leung and Milton Cox.
