Bernie Reagan was the venue for the Valentine’s Day event on Friday 14th February 2025.
There was a real positive social buzz as runners waited for the 2km and 5km events to start. Runners also welcomed back Leith Babian to the club, after a lengthy stint in Wollongong. Leith was happy to be back in Nowra and running with Nowra Athletics Club.
2km:
Sky Martin won the Valentine’s chocolates crossing the line first in 13.57. Power walkers and surgery recovery patients Lisa Caroll 31.26 and Rob McDonald 31.30 completed the podium. Jasper Arnold, still recovering from dental surgery, completed the course with René Arnold in 42.16.
5km:
Super power walker Donna Johnson took full advantage of her new handicap, to snatch a narrow victory from in-form runner, Darcy Arnold. Despite an increase in Darcy’s handicap, she still managed to pass runners in front and stay in front of the back markers. Rebecca Cooper, showing the rewards of some hard training for her trail run coming up in March, finished third.
It was an all female runners affair on the podium.

Thanks goes to Terry Bailey, who once again volunteered to do the timing. Much appreciated, Terry.
Next week we are at Palm Beach, Sanctuary Point. This run was a suggestion as a possible venue for Friday Night, by the Sunday morning training group. It’s an out and back course, with 85% boardwalk and 15% gravel, along the coast line.
See you there!
