AACT Under14-Under 18 Championships were held at Woden over the weekend of 18th-20th February.
Several Nowra junior athletes made the trip to Canberra for the Championship event with great success.
Max Marshall maintained his recent sprinting success with wins in both the Under 15 100m and 200m. Max took out the 100m in 11.56 and finished the 200m in 23.20.
In the steeplechase events, Nowra had multiple wins, both in medals and personal bests. 14 year old Nic McGill ran his second ever steeplechase and took the win in 6.58.05, earning himself a 24 second PB and a National Qualifier. Denzel Atkinson also tasted success with a win in the 15 years steeplechase, crossing in 6.55.30 whilst in the 16 years event, Harrison Baxter was the winner in a time of 7.04.38. In addition, Oliver Baxter was 3rd in the 15 years event in 7.40.97.
Will Dyball added another gold medal to his collection with a win in the U18 800m, taking the race out in 2.01.99.
Jonah Watson ran consistently well in the sprint events, qualifying for the finals in both the U16 100m and 200m. Jonah was 4th in his 100m heat in 13.09 and 4th again in his 200m heat in a time of 25.69. In the 200m final Jonah improved on this time with 25.85 in 6th place.
Charlie Heidke also contested the sprints, finishing 4th in U17 100m in 11.71 and 4th in the 200m in 23.34.
Cooper Barrett earned himself PB’s with a 55.32 in the U17 400m for 2nd place, and a 2.05.98 for another 2nd place in the 800m.
In the non-championship events, Ella Dyball took 3rd place in the 18-19 years 800m in a time of 2.47.27, and in the 5000m, former Nowra athlete, Harry McGill took out the event in 14.45.20.
