Several Nowra athletes travelled to the ACT on Saturday 30th November, 2024 for the Capital Athletics Summer Series No. 6.
It was a wet day at the AIS however our athletes performed well despite the conditions.
Tom Brookes and Jonah Watson earned PB’s in all of their races. In the 100m, Jonah was 2nd in 11.55 and Tom was not far behind, in 4th in 11.81. In the 200m, Jonah was 2nd in 23.33 whilst in the 400m, Jonah took the win in 53.92 followed by Tom in 2nd place in 54.15.
in the 1500m, Airlie Sevens equalled her PB of 5.04.54, running in 3rd. Matt Watson also had a good run, dodging puddles in lane 2, to clock 6.59.87.
Madeline Oke was one of just two competitors in the 3000m, and ran a good race, clocking 11.29.29. Whilst in the 5000m, Glen Mustapic was 10th in 23.51.63 and Mark O’Leary was 11th in 24.46.48.
Closer to home, Hamish McLaren contested the GONG 5000 and clocked a 29 second PB. Lily Sproule also had a fantastic run with a huge PB of 18.10 whilst Daniel Wood finished 18th in the event in a PB of 16.40.

Next weekend, we have 2 exciting competitions to look forward to. We wish all our junior athletes who are competing in the Mid South Coast Zone Championships the very best of luck. The Championships will be hosted by the St Georges Basin Centre in Sanctuary Point. We also wish our masters athletes good luck who will be competing in the NSW Regional All-Comers being held on our home track in Nowra.
