Erin Smart continued her record-breaking form on 30th November with another record in the 40-49 years group, this time in the 600m. Erin clocked 1.42.11 smashing the previous record of 1:52.50 set by Linda Weatherill in the 2007-08 season. Running in 2nd in the senior 600m race was Byron Osgood who crossed in 1:46.61 and Gavin Dyball was 3rd in 1:49.82. The junior race was won by Archie Higgins in 1:57.43 whilst Evie Binney was 2nd in 1:58.59 and Evie Smart was 3rd in 2:05.77.
In the sprints Tom Brookes demonstrated great form clocking 8.14 in the 60m and 13.04 in the 100m. Our youngest athletes continue to impress with Riley Sandstrom, Harrison Withyman and Darcy Binney featuring strongly. Also impressive each week is 4 year old Hazel Savianne who competes with enthusiasm alongside big sister Isla, aged 7. In addition, Jack Savianne, aged 9, and Heidi Savianne, aged 11, always put in great effort across all events, displaying persistence and consistent improvement.
In the distance event, Byron Osgood took out the 1500m in 5:30.39, Emily McLaren was 2nd in 5:42.00 and Gavin Dyball was 3rd in 5:53.89.
In the field, masters throwers Melinda Jennings and Scott McLaren were fairly evenly matched. Scott speared 16.76m in javelin whilst Melinda speared 16.19m and in shot put both throwers achieved 7.61m.
Our juniors performed well in the discus circle with 9 year old Riley Sandstrom sending the discus 23.5m. Other good efforts came from Benjamin Sproule 16.29m, Ezekiel Blinksell 14.51m, Archie Higgins 14.13m, Harrison Withyman 14.04m, Wyatt Binney 13.52m, Hendrix Blinksell 12.79m, Heidi Saviane 12.72m, and Dean Osgood 12.66m.
