A number of Nowra athletes travelled to Bankstown on Saturday 3rd December to compete at the 2022 Albie Thomas meet.
The sprints were first up with fifteen year-old Jonah Watson contesting the men’s 100m F race. Jonah ran in 2nd in 12.33 for a new PB. Next up was Alisha Mustapic who won the women’s 100m C race in a new PB of 13.30.
Next on the program was Cooper Barrett who challenged himself over the 400m and finished 5th in the C race in a time of 53.57.
The Dyball men contested the 800m. Gavin Dyball led the way in the F race and ran a fantastic race, pushing hard from the start. He gave it absolutely everything he had and earned himself a new PB of 2.27.17 in 6th place. In the D race, Toby Dyball was 8th in 2.14.61 whilst in the B race, Will Dyball ran a strong race to finish 3rd in 1.58.08.
The Baxter boys tested themselves over the mile distance. In The F race Oliver and Cameron Baxter both ran with confidence and good form. Oliver crossed the line in 4th place in 5.01.47 with Cameron not far behind him, finishing well to take 5th in 5.04.97.
In the E race Harrison Baxter also ran well demonstrating his strength and determination to finish 5th in 4.42.50.
In addition, in the 800m A race, former Nowra athlete Cam Musgrove, who now lives in Canberra and runs for North Canberra-Gungahlin Athletics Club, won himself $200 for taking 3rd place in what was a very tactical race, finishing in 1.55.63.
